“If you want your life to be a magnificent story, then begin by realizing that you are the author and everyday you have the opportunity to write a new page.” – Mark Houlahan
In 2013 I was fortunate enough to temporarily sate my rampant wanderlust and in doing so I crossed a few things off my extraordinarily long bucket list. Hopefully the new year will provide just as many amazing photographic opportunities.
“In photography, the smallest thing can be a great subject.” – Henri Cartier-Bresson
I am a great admirer of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s unique style of street photography. Cartier-Bresson was a believer in opening the mind and letting photographic experiences candidly find him, creating poetic imagery in his photographs. Through studying his images, I have learnt to not take the world at face value, and to search for the inner beauty in everyday scenes. I applied this new found knowledge while exploring and photographing the streets of Europe.
So for the past 11 days I have been travelling around Greece and Turkey and I have discovered that I absolutely love this part of the world. From the beautiful islands of Santorini and Mykonos, the amazing history of Athens and Kusadasi and the Gyros and Turkish Delight, they have definitely become two places I can’t wait to return to.
I thought I’d share with you a few of my favourite images taken so far. I’m off to Italy now, so more updates are to come.
